We’ve all seen it. Married couples who have “fallen out of love.” They were wildly passionate and romantic at first, but the busy routines of life have caused them to drift away from the wild love that used to consume them. You probably wouldn’t know it by looking at them. They look like the “perfect family.” They seem happy. They work hard. They eat together, play together, and even pray together. But the passion’s gone. The fire that once raged between them has dwindled to an occasional spark. They’ve lost the passion they once enjoyed together. What was once a sheer delight has now become a drudging duty.
A relationship with Jesus is no different. If you’re not intentional about stoking the coals, eventually it’s going to die out. Thankfully, Jesus tells us in Revelation 2 what we need to do to rekindle the flame.
